Students and oral presentations – Proposal

INTRODUCTION

In this proposal I will assess the current situation regarding spoken presentations, outlining a few problems students may have with the presentations, following that, I will present some suggestions on how to overcome these problems.

CURRENT SITUATION

Is not new that students often struggle to speak a second language aloud. What happens is that these students are afraid of speaking because they are not confident of being capable of doing it, so they usually refuse to even try to speak. Another problem that they present is that they often feel frustrated with the language, and they block themselves, leading to a feeling of embarrassment. A survey taken to approximately 80 students suggest, students tent to like the language but they do not feel comfortable speaking it, due to possibles comments of their peers. Students also say that spoken Presentations put them under a massive feeling of stress, that bring a lot of anxiety.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE ADRESSED

All of these problems need to be taken into account, to improve students’ performance on spoken presentations.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I would suggest the following to the school director:

  • I would suggest the following to the school director:
  • Create a workshop about how to speak in public, and also, how to improve our confidence in oral production.
  • Encourage students to be good peers, making them correct themselves in a respectful way, and learning about their mistakes.

CONCLUSION

Finally, this current situation needs to be changed and provide solutions for it.

Review: Beyond words, Alexa Mores

Have your ever imagined to be so important on people’s life, that someone write a book about how you change the world?. In this review I’m going to present to you a book about Tuco Salamanca, written by Alexa Flores, called “Beyond Words”

About the book, you need to know that what you are going to read, is real. The book presents how Tuco Salamanca changed the world of medical drugs, by creating new drugs, after discussing what benefits the patients most needed. What is more important is the journey that he made to discover these new drugs and how he tried to test the side effects of it.

One aspect to highlight is the narrative form that the author use, it is a very easy and practical book to read, it is divided in chapters and its lexical is common to most people. I’m sure you are going to follow it just right. On the other hand, it is a very extensive book, and usually, that scares people by thinking that they are not going to finish the book ever.

Personally, I recommend this book to everyone who likes factual history, and to whom would like to know a little more about the world of drugs used on medicine. But also to people that are interested in knowing influent people that made a change in a part of our world.

A better Island – Essay

When we referd to a tourist Island, we often claim that it has to be a beautiful and peaceful place to spend our holidays. But what about the energy to be used on that Island. First, it has to be renewable energy, but what kind of renewable energy? In this essay I will discuss two possible options of renewable energy to use on the tourist Island.

The first option is to use wind turbines on the Island. This type of renewable energy does not contaminate the environment, while this would lead to a cleaner Island, it is true that it would affect the landscape of the Island. Certainly, these wind turbines are huge and would interfere with the view and also the touristic experience.

A second renewable energy to have as an option is Solar Panels. This kind of renewable
energy is characterized for being a 100% clean, causing zero damage to the environment
and ecosystem. The main difference from the fist option is that these panels
can be easily hide and they do not perturbate the landscape. But they are more
expensive that the wind turbines.

As I see it, it is better to spend more money on the panel in order to keep the landscape clear from any distraction and to create a more enjoyable view to the tourist, this might increase the fluency of tourist.

Report on Language Learning Experience

INTRODUCTION

In this report I will provide a description of my own experience learning languages so far. For this, the main points are, which laguages I have learned, and how I learned them, methods that I used with their strengths and weaknesses, and finally, asection of recomendations.

LANGUAGES I KNOW AND HOW I LEARNT THEM

The languages that I will present are: Spanish, English and French. The first two languages were learnt during a scholarship and the last one, on vacations. In my experience, the three languages are quite similar to learn, due to share similar words, and also similar sounds. With the three of them I used the very same methods. First, I tried the method of memorising common phrases. At first it was a good option to do, but then I realize that, at the end, languages are far more that just memorising phrases. Then, I tried the “audio-visual” method. This one is more useful for daily life because you can hear the pronunciation and also see what it is about.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

About the “Audio-visual” method, one strength that I noticed was that it is a very easy method to learn and to use for languages. But, youhabe to be persistent in order to achieve the goal of learning a language.

RECOMMENDATIONS

I would therefore recommend to take your own time to learn, do not compare yourself with others and try to learn somenthing new everyday.
